· Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia)

Lavender essential oil is good for both relaxation and soothing your skin.

Lavender is a middle/top note, and is used to help balance all seven of the chakras.

Benefits:

The aroma helps to calm nerves and helps to soothe the body, mind, and spirit.

It helps to soothe minor skin irritations and helps reduce inflammation.

Blend a few drops with your favorite carrier oil and gently apply to skin. You can also add a few drops to an unscented lotion.

It is perfect to defuse in a room for a restful sleep.

· Peppermint essential oil (Mentha x piperita)

This oil is perfect for blending to help reduce pain. This is a strong oil, so remember to use only a few drops and dilute it well. To use, add one or two drops to a handful of carrier oil and rub on the area that needs a little boost.

Peppermint is a middle/top note, and is used to help balance the throat chakra.

Benefits:

Peppermint is wonderful to calm and relax muscles after physical activity

Peppermint oil should not be ingested. For the best benefits, it is great to diffuse, or dilute with your favorite carrier oil.

Peppermint also enhances healthy digestion and helps to reduce the feeling of a heavy gut after a large meal.

Safety precautions:

 Peppermint oil may cause skin or mucus membrane irritation and should be diluted no more than 1% to use on the skin. It should never be ingested.

· Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon)

Lemon essential oil adds a burst of sunshine to help brighten a gloomy day. The aroma hells to give the burst of energy to lift the spirit.

Lemon is a top note, and helps to balance the solar plexus chakra

Benefits:

It helps to reduce tension and depression. It is also a wonderful additive to cleaning, and it helps to break down grease.

Safety Precautions:

Lemon oil is phototoxic and can cause skin burns if it is used on skin that is exposed to direct sunlight. When applying it to the skin, sunlight should be avoided up to 12 hours after applying any citrus oils. It should not exceed a 1-2% dilution rate.

· Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii)

Frankincense is perfect to get grounded and become centered again.

Frankincense is a base note and helps to balance the third eye chakra.

Benefits:

Frankincense is skin soothing which makes it perfect blend with any skin care routine. 

Frankincense is great to help relax when diffused.

· Patchouli essential oil (Pogostemon cablin)

When people hear patchouli, they think of hippies, but it is a lot more. It is very skin calming, which makes it perfect to add to any skin care routine.

Pachouli is a base note and helps to balance the root chakra.

Benefits:

Pachouli has skin calming properties when used topically, as well as calming the mind when diffused,

· Cedarwood essential oil (Juniperus virginiana)

Cedarwood essential oil has a wonderful aroma of nature. It is often used in deodorizers. It is a versatile aroma that blends well with other botanicals to add a sweeter, earthier profile.

Cedarwood is a base note and helps to balance the root chakra.

Benefits:

Cedarwood oil is very grounding. It is a great oil to diffuse when life throughs a curve ball.

· Ginger Root essential oil (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger root oil is a perfect oil to help settle an upset stomach. Add a few drops to a carrier oil and apply to the tummy.

Ginger is a middle note and helps to balance the sacral chakra.

Benefits:

Ginger is a great oil to use for the times when the stomach is not up to parr. It is also a warming oil to diffuse to help bring a warm feeling into the area.

Ginger root oil can irritate sensitive skin, and should always be diluted. The recommended dilution rate is 3%.

· Tea Tree essential oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)

Tea tree essential oil is known for its germ fighting abilities. It is used in many facial scrubs.

It is a top/middle note and helps to balance the throat chakra.

Benefits:

Tea tree oil is a great oil to diffuse when the germs are infiltrating the area. It is a great oil to use to help fight off germs and fungus.

Safety Precautions:

Tea tree oil is highly toxic to cats. Use extreme caution when using it around cats.

· Grapefruit essential oil (Citrus paradisi)

Grapefruit oil is a perfect oil to help brighten up a gloomy day. It is very fresh and uplifting.

It is a top note and helps to balance the solar plexus chakra.

Benefits:

Grapefruit oil helps to rejuvenate the skin, which makes is a great oil to add to a skin care routine. It also helps to aid in digestion. Add a drop or two to a carrier oil and rub it on the tummy to help with digestion. It is not recommended to use this oil internally.
